App Review – Ramp Champ 1.0.1

Hello again,

As you can see from the badge above, now I’m going to review a very amazing game, Ramp Champ. At first, I was noticing a lot of commotion with some of my Twitter friends before it came out, and I didn’t understand it. Now that I have it, I understand! It may not be is not an easy game, but hey! harder is better! I’m just saying that, if it’s not a challenge, how can it be fun?! Just look at Flight Control! It’s one of the most challenging games, yet it was in the top 10 paid apps for months! And it wouldn’t surprise me if Ramp Champ did too.

The point of this game is to throw balls in the ramp and hit the different objects that are in front, just like in the fairs! The UI is simply amazing, but I wouldn’t expect any worse from The Iconfactory. It comes bundles with four different stages: Clown Town, Breakwater Bay, SpaceSwarm, and The Icon Garden.

Each one of this has it’s own different targets to shoot at, and its own three different goals. Each stage has this goals, and this makes the game amazing, because this goals are very difficult to obtain! Also, after each game, which consists of a 9 ball round, you get 1 ticket for each 500 points that you score during the game (each target ranges from about 250 – 1000 points). Now, you might be wondering, why do you want those tickets? Well, with those tickets you can buy prizes! They have many awesome prizes for you to choose from, so make sure to keep playing so you can buy them all!

They also were awesome enough to let you purchase two extra stages! I’m sorry, but I was not able to buy any of those as I have only left.. haha. But I’m sure they are better than the ones that come bundles with the game!

Overall it is definitely a hard game, as it is not easy to send the ball exactly where you need it to go, but play it for a minute or two and you’ll be completely hooked! It is really a MUST get game!!

To finish, here are some more pics and at the very end you can find more info and a link to the app (in the icon)

Thanks a lot for reading! Any suggestions? Do you think I missed something in the review? Feel free to contact me!

Thanks again

App review – Awesome Note 1.5

Here’s the review I promised a while ago… This review is going to be on the app Awesome Note

Awesome Note —  $3.99 in the iTunes App Store

This is a very awesome app, if you like to take notes of everything, and specially have them really well organized, this is an app for you. It is actually so good that it has replaced the Notes app that comes with the iPhone.

It has a lot of very nice features, from changing the font of your note or the background to organize the notes in folders and even protect individual folders with a pass code!

When you first open the app you can see up to the first five folders of notes, an “add a quick note” button and another “add a quick memo” button. The entire app can be used either in portrait or landscape mode. For each folder of notes you can choose between a number of colors and icons to recognize them easily between each other. Inside each folder you can add notes, add quick notes, change between icon and list view of the notes, change between name or date order for the notes, or enter the settings for that folder.

You can choose a different font and font size for each note and also change the background of them.If you have a note and want to change it from one folder into another, thats no problem, you can do that. As I mentioned before you can choose a pass code for each folder to keep stalkers out. And now in the update 1.5 you can also sync your notes with Google Docs!

This is a VERY complete app, and as in last review, I wont tell you it has a 10/10 or 5/10 I will only tell you that I recommend it a lot, if you want to check it out go ahead and do it, the link is in the icon above ;)

Thanks a lot for reading!

Incipio Tribal review

Here’s my first physical product review, an iPhone case. Hope you like it :)

The Incipio Tribal is the case I have been using on a daily basis for a while now, over 3 weeks. And I totally love it. It is a silicon case, big enough to protect from falls (I already tested it haha), but small enough to fit in your pocket comfortably. A thing that I like from this case is that it almost doesn’t grab up any lint! And when it does catch up some, it’s easy to remove. I also love the design, a very awesome tribal (duh..) design. It comes in black, white, turquoise, blue, yellow and charcoal (according to their website). Here are some pics so you can check it out:

Incipio Tribal front

Incipio Tribal back

I really like it because the buttons, even tho they are covered, are VERY responsive! That way you don’t have to press very hard against the iPhone. The dock connector is completely open as well as the earphone jack and silent switch. What I like of the dock connector to be completely open is that you can use for example a Monster FM transmitter without taking the case out, even tho the connector is huge. It is also very easy to take it on or off the iPhone as the silicon isn’t as hard as others. That helps a lot with falls, as it absorbs the impact force.

Finally, in this next picture you’ll see how much bulk it will add to your iPhone.

Incipio Tribal thicknessIt is $24.99 in Incipio’s website. But you can get it cheaper in other places like I did, I got it for around $25 with taxes and shipping to mexico from myGearStore :D

Take video off a video to have sound only

I wasn’t really going to make this post, but as my iTunes account hit $0.00 and I really wanted some songs I downloaded vids from YouTube and used GarageBand to take the video off to let the song only, posted it on Twitter and someone got interested. So instead of giving him directions I decided to make a post so I could maybe help more than one person :)

Let’s start at the very beginning, how do you get a video from YouTube? There are really TONS of ways to do this, but what I do is open up GetTube and click on the icon of the browser I have the video playing on (with that tab/window selected) verify that that’s the video I want and click download, that’s it.

Once you have the video go ahead and open up GarageBand. It will show you this window, select “Movie” and click Choose

GarageBand startup windowClick create and then just drag and drop the movie file into the main window,  it should end up looking something like this:

GarageBand main windowSelect the top part (”Movie Track”) and click command – delete and click delete again in the popup window. Now just click on Share on the menu bar and click “Send song to iTunes” Fill up the information as you please and click Share. That’s it! Now your song is in iTunes! :)

Hope it’s useful and you liked my little tutorial

Expose tips

This is going to be a quick and easy tip. I’m pretty sure every Mac user knows about exposé, in my opinion one of the best features of Macs. But this is a tip that you might like.

When you hit F10 or F3 or whatever key you have set to show all your open windows you’ll see something like this:

Exposé all windows-1But, if you do that, and after it’s showing you all the windows you hit “tab” or “~” it will show you all the windows for an app, keep on hitting and it will go from app to app showing you all the windows of each app, select the one you wan, and you’re done! Here you can see how it looks:

Exposé all windows-2This was just a quick and easy tip and hope I could help you somehow, if you have suggestions leave a comment below or email me :)

Tips for taking screenshots on a Mac

On this post I’ll give you some tips for taking screenshots on a Mac, useful specially if you’re new to Macs. If you’re new, you might even think it’s impossible cause there’s no “print screen” key on a Mac. And actually I think its easier to take screenshots on a Mac than on a PC, why? Because on a PC you get the screenshot on your clipboard, meaning you need to got to paint, for example, and paste the image. Instead, on a Mac, it gives you the .png file right on your desktop.

Let’s get to it, how do you do it? Just hit command – shift – 3 , that will take a screenshot of your whole screen and the image will be saved as “Picture 1.png” or whatever number its available in your desktop. Here you can see the file on my desktop (selected file):

Full screenshot

But sometimes you want to just screenshot part of your screen, you can always take a full screenshot and then crop, but that’s the longer way! If you hit command – shift – 4 , you can now select which part of your screen to screenshot. Like here, I just wanted to show you part of my iPhoto library, so you can see that in that event I have 702 photos (verify at the bottom) :) lol:

Selected screenshot

But also, that may not look good if for example you wanna take a pic of your Dock (or any other window) cause if you do it that way, it will looks like this:

Selected screenshot of Dock

And I think that it looks WAY better like this:

Window screenshot of Dock

What do you think? Well, to do that what you have to do is hit command – shift – 4 , after you did that, hit space, now click the window (desktop, widget, Dock, etc.) you wish and it will snapshot only that! and if it’s a window, it will also have the shadow :)

Hope you liked this tips! If you have any questions about anything leave a comment below or email me.

Thanks for reading!

First app review – Birdfeed 1.0

This is going to be my first app review ever :) I hope I don’t miss any good or bad things about this app.

Well, first of all, I wanna start by giving you a link to the app (click the icon)

Birdfeed iconBirdfeed — $4.99 in the iTunes App Store

Okay, I really think this is a very nice app, it’s very complete and very nice polished, specially for being version 1.0. But at the same time, it does have some cons…

I will start with the cons:

-First and most important (for most of you) as of v 1.0 it has no landscape keyboard.

-Another problem that I’ve had several times is that I wrote some text for the tweet, took a pic and when it uploaded, it deleted all my written text and wrote the link for the pic…

-It does not have support, like other apps, to view a profile picture or Twitpic in full screen.

-The application’s settings are in the Settings app, not in Birdfeed itself.

-A bug I found is that if a user has 10k or more followers / following / updates, it shows up as zero

Now with the good stuff:

-It is very fast.

-Supports multiple accounts.

-It saves up to 500 tweets of the timeline for you read even if you have no internet.

-For what I’ve seen, pretty much full featured.

This is what you’ll see in your account general view:

Birdfeed general view As you can see, it has Search & View user (just type in any user, and it will show the user) besides what you would expect (timeline, mentions, DMs, etc)

This is how your timeline will look like (Mentions show up in color orange):

Birdfeed timeline At the very top of the timeline you have the load newer button, and every time you tap it, it makes a “bookmark” that shows up between the tweet at the top and the first new tweet, so you know where and at what time you last refreshed. (I just noticed that in this screen shot you cant see the avatars, I took the pic before my slow internet loaded them up lol)

Birdfeed load new bottomAnother very nice feature is that when you go all the way to the bottom of your timeline it will automatically load up older tweets, without the need to tap anything. (just below @iTouchiPodz’s tweet you can see the “bookmark” I was talking about before)

Birdfeed tweet viewYou may be asking yourself, how do I reply to a tweet? Well to do so, just tap on the tweet you want to reply or you want to RT and you’ll see what you see to the left of this text. Tap Reply/Favorite/Forward to do what you wanna do (Fw = RT, email or post link to tweet)

Birdfeed new tweetTo make a new tweet, just tap in the to left corner (chat bubble) and you’ll see something like the pic to the right. Tap the trash can  to erase the whole tweet, tap the camera to upload a picture (chose or take a new one) and in the center, you see the character counter.

Birdfeed user viewFinally, I wanna show you the way you see the user’s profile. To do so, either use the “View User” feature, or tap an account’s pic in a tweet. What you’ll be able to do here is:

-Send a DM

-See his/her recent tweets

-See his/her favorite tweets

-Search @[username]

-Follow/Unfollow

-Services, what services is, is a couple of links to some pages:

—Twitter.com (goes to twitter.com/[username])

—Favrd (is not currently working for me, not even their website favrd so I don’t know what it does)

—Follow Cost,(shows you his/her follow cost, go to followcost for more info)

—DoesFollow (shows you if that user follows you or not)

I will not give a rating, I just give you the good things and bad things of the app and you decide if it’s worth or not the $4.99 for you (if you don’t like this method, let me know)

Hope you liked my review and it was useful for to know if it’s worth the money or not for you, if I missed something, please let me know in a comment below :)

PS. Special thanks to Pashyn (@pashyn) because I used her in the screenshots :P go follow her in Twitter, and sub to her in YouTube
